Step out of your comfort zone

Hey guys !

So I know that many of us struggle with stepping out of our comfort zone simply because well ..we’re not comfortable. But what if we took tiny steps to get out ? What would that do for the way we see ourselves?

Challenged by a company called Dia&Co who hand pick pieces and deliver it to your door for sizes 14+ , I decided I was going to take a tiny step out of my fashion comfort zone !

Now I know this may not be especially daring or completely out there , but for me it definitely was!

I absolutely adore this bag but the print had me feeling a bit skeptical. I still however decided to go all out and paired this bag with an all black outfit making sure this bag was the statement piece !

I love the fact that Dia&Co challenge the whole ‘certain clothes for certain people’ thing and help us actually achieve that dream outfit we’ve always wanted to rock !

3 quick and healthy snacks

So basically majority of us make a “I’m gonna be healthy / get fit ” resolution at the beginning of each year , but begin to struggle a week in and resort back to old habits.

Well for those of you who are still going strong on that resolution or those who would like to get back on track , then these snacks are perfect to curb those cravings !

1. Kale chips

Now I know it’s not your typical lunch break potato chips but I mean these come in a close second!

Make them :

-Preheat your over to 140 C

  • Cut the leaves off the stem and into smaller pieces.
  • Lay them down on a tray ,careful not to overlap!
  • Melt 1 tbsp of coconut oil and massage into the kale.
  • Sprinkle with salt and put them inside your preheated oven.

Leave them in for 15 mins or until they start turning brown round the edges and they’re done !

2. Smoked Paprika Hummus

Delicious with a side of crackers or some pita chips !

Make them :

  • Strain and rinse 1 can of chickpeas.

In a food processor add :

  • The chickpeas
  • 1tsp smoked paprika
  • 1tsp salt
  • 3 tblsp water
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 1 clove of finely minced garlic

Grind until smooth and you’re good to go !

(Once made store in an airtight container in the fridge and it can last up to a week)

3. Spiced Granola

Granola and yoghurt parfaits, granola cereal or basically a sprinkle of granola on top of anything makes a perfect snack !

Make it :

– preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius

  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1/8 of a cup or 2 tablespoons of coconut oil

Melt these two together on a low heat and pour into the following mixture :

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1/2 cup of almonds
  • 1/2 cup of pecans
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger

Bake in the oven for 15 mins and mix in 1/4 cup of coconut flakes and bake for 5 more minutes!

Store in an airtight container and it will last more than a week !

Honey can easily be replaced by maple syrup !

The add ons in the granola can be left up to preference!

Kale chips can be flavored with any spice !

I hope you enjoy these snacks as much as I do !

Happy New Year !

Now before you think this is just another post full of New Years resolutions that I probably won’t end up keeping – it’s not.

Instead it’s a little catch up with a 2016 overview and high hopes for 2017 .

Now let’s be honest , 2016 wasn’t particularly the greatest year for a lot of people (myself included) but it did also have its ups !

I completed my final year in school  which was stressful but also quite a relief. It also means I mark a new chapter in my life which is definitely something to look forward to.

My mindset going into the new year is to always be completely positive in any situation given ! There is no time or space for any sort of negativity that may get me down , life is too short for that.

2016 was a crazy and full year and I’m quite  excited to see what 2017 brings !

Here’s to the New Year 2017 !

Home Decor

Hey guys !

Antiques and other little decor pieces are a great way to tie together a room. It can be so hard finding that perfect piece ,so we often turn to different home stores , antique shops and  online shopping for that perfect something !

Whenever I’m on the hunt I usually turn to my local antique stores as this is the perfect way to get unique pieces !

If you like home decor stores but still want the uniqueness of a piece , use it in an unconventional kind of way .

Eg: mason jars can be painted in a color that suits your room , scraped up to give it a rustic look and can be used for make up brushes storage !

Another great place to pick up pieces are markets , you will often find hand crafted , one of a kind pieces there that really stand out !

Invaluable is an online auctionplace that has a great post on summer antiques that you must be sure to check out! I found them because they have lots of antique items and jewelry for sale. It’s true that you can find lots of great pieces in person like I’ve mentioned before in this post, but online is another great option and it’s convenient for those who might be too busy to go in person! Here’s the post about summer antiques.

Favorite mascaras

Hey guys !

If I had to choose one makeup item to have for the rest of my life it definitely would be mascara ! I feel like you can never be understated nor overstated with big luscious lashes.

Tell me about a mascara that doesn’t clump and I’m sold !

These four are definitely my favorite out of the many mascaras I’ve tried .

1. Loreal Paris Miss Manga

This mascara is actually violet in color and the first colored mascara that I’ve used .I actually bought this one by accident but I am so happy about it !

The wand is flexible and the formula is amazing . It doesn’t clump and it looks like you have falsies when applied .

2. Maybelline New York Lash Sensational.

After all the reviews that popped up on this mascara I finally got it and can honestly vouch for those lovely reviews .

The wand is quite unusual with a curve to it and it makes applying it so much easier .

3. Essence “get BIG lashes” in triple black .

This is one of my favorites as it is one of the very first mascaras I started wearing . I absolutely love the wand and bristles , it separates your lashes and gives it good length .

4.  Mac extended play lash.

I will definitely be replacing this one over and over !

The brush is a long thin one and makes applying it on your bottom lashes so easy .

I love these mascaras so much and definitely recommend it to everyone.
